Timeless in form and magical in nature, 'Tickled Pink' is a newly constructed beachfront mansion in Harbour Island, recognised by Forbes as "the Crown Jewel of the Caribbean". Perched high above the sea, resplendently dressed in hues that reflect the natural light and colours of The Bahamas, this incredible estate boasts a world of enchantment within and without, and direct access to Harbour Island's famous Pink Sand Beach.

 

THE HOUSE

 

Arrival to the main house is via porte cochere. Across 8,111 sq. ft. of air-conditioned living space, there are 9 bedrooms, 9.2 bathrooms and space for 18 guests. Designed in a style that evokes youthful Caribbean elegance, the house is light, colourful and airy, with the choice of materials lending to the feeling of being connected to nature. Coral stone floors feature prominently throughout, as do shiplap walls and vaulted ceilings in common areas and several of the bedrooms. Of course, the star of the show are the incredible views enjoyed from virtually every room in the house.

 

The great room - found on the main level of the home - comprises the living and dining rooms and leads out to an expansive covered terrace with breathtaking views of the backyard and azure waters of The Bahamas. Back inside, the eat-in kitchen boasts top-of-the-line appliances, a large center island, a large window to enjoy the views and a walk-in pantry. Elsewhere on the main level are four bedrooms, including the primary suite boasting its own private terrace, spa-like bathroom and walk-in closet.

 

The downstairs level of the home contains another four bedrooms - all with ensuite bathrooms - as well as a den, game room and fully equipped gym. Each bedroom is incredibly well appointed, offering stunning views of the ocean and access to a covered terrace.

 

THE GROUNDS

 

As if the inside of the home wasn't enough, the grounds are absolutely mesmerising. The natural stone deck gives way to a beautifully shaped infinity-edge pool and hot tub, with a nearby pool cabana that is great for entertaining and lounging. Beyond the pool is perhaps the piece de resistance of the entire property -- a perfectly manicured garden - with coconut trees, garden chairs and a hammock - that leads to a winding pathway to the beach. As the saying goes, it's not a trick of the sun or a trick of the sand or a trick of the light, the sand in Harbour Island truly is pink. You can walk for miles on this gorgeous stretch of sand, go for a swim, or spend an afternoon just taking in some sun.

 

Back at the front of the property, there is a 2-car garage above which sits the guest apartment, with its own kitchen, sitting area, bedroom and balcony. At the other side of the property is another cabana, this one designed for al-fresco dining in a more intimate, protected setting. These vignettes are like little jewels sprinkled around the property, and this particular one boasts a mural by acclaimed Bahamian artist Angelika Wallace-Whitfield.

 

THE ISLAND

 

Hop in a golf cart and go. It’s that simple. You can circle Harbour Island in twenty-minutes, cross it in five. But falling in love with this picturesque island town will take you no time at all. You can breeze away an afternoon admiring Bay Street’s harbour views or the quaint New England architecture of Dunmore Town. Sunbathing on the Pink Sand Beach is the cherry on top of a sleepy Sunday afternoon.

 

Home to less than 2,000 inhabitants, Harbour Island’s laid-back environment presents a quiet refuge from the chaotic routine of daily life.  The island is the perfect escape for families, friends, or couples looking to relax on a crowd-less beach, take leisurely strolls down picturesque streets, and sip cocktails with the locals and occasional celebrity.

Should a booking be longer than 7 nights, an additional daily cleaning charge of $100 per day will apply for every additional day.
